The Tennessee man conducted an ‘elaborate, nationwide scheme’ using old baseball players’ names to seek class action funds, prosecutors say

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee man with the same name as New York Yankees legend Babe Ruth is facing charges alleging that he used the names of hundreds of dead or retired pro baseball players to make phony claims for payouts in class action settlements.

George Herman Ruth, a Tennessee man with the same full name as the Yankees slugger, used the names of retired and dead players to file fraudulent class-action settlement claims, prosecutors said.
