Judge Tony Leung ruled that one suspect, Abdinasir Abshir, will now remain in jail pending his trial in August after prosecutors accused him of tampering with a witness in the separate trial of Feeding Our Future’s former executive director,

According to court records, a judge revoked the pre-trial release for 30-year-old Abdinasir Mahamed Abshir for his alleged "attempt to tamper with and intimidate a government witness."

The alleged tampering took place last Tuesday before Feeding our Future co-defendant Sharmake Jama, 37, was to testify for the prosecution in the ongoing trial of Aimee Bock, the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Feeding Our Future, and co-defendant Salim Said, a former co-owner of Safari Restaurant in Minneapolis.

Mohamed Hussein said it was in the spring of 2020 when two men from Feeding Our Future came to his wife’s small restaurant in Faribault to recruit them to become a meal site for children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A federal judge, citing the need to prevent future acts of “mafia”-styled acts of witness tampering or intimidation, ordered Friday that the man accused of interfering with the ongoing Feeding Our Future trial remain in jail until his August trial.
