It’s a front row seat that may be too hot to handle for most of us, but luckily scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey captured mesmerizing video of the newest eruption at Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano.

Episode 31 of the ongoing Kilauea eruption ended abruptly at 2:52 a.m. today after more than 12 hours of intense lava fountaining inside Halemaumau crater, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said.

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano resumed erupting Friday by shooting an arc of lava 100 feet into the air and across a section of its summit crater floor.
