An Indonesian Air Transport ATR 42-500 has been located in mountainous terrain near Mount Bulusaraung after disappearing on approach to Makassar, with early indications pointing to a deviation from the assigned approach path prior to loss of contact.

‍ Makassar — An Air Indonesia Transport (I8), aka Indonesia Air, ATR 42-512 has crashed in a mountainous region of the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The aircraft, owned by I8 and chartered to Indonesia’s Marine and Fisheries Resources Surveillance agency, left no survivors among its 8 crew and 3 passengers.

An ATR 42-500 aircraft operated by Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) lost contact on Saturday over Maros District, South Sulawesi, while en route from Yogyakarta to Makassar.

The turboprop airplane operated by PT Indonesia Air Transport last made contact over Maros regency, South Sulawesi, at around 1 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA).
