After three bargaining sessions this week failed to produce a new contract, union officials announced Thursday night that Naperville School District 203 teachers will go on strike Tuesday.

In a joint statement, the two sides said the tentative deal will avoid a strike​, and no classes will be cancelled next week.

The teachers union announced the tentative agreement Friday, a day after revealing a plan to strike next week if a deal wasn't reached.
