SAN DIEGO (AP) — Nestor Cortes took a perfect game into the sixth inning and combined with three relievers on a two-hitter as the San Diego Padres reclaimed the NL West lead with a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night.

The single by O’Hearn was the first hit allowed by Glasnow. Bogaerts was followed by Gavin Sheets, who lined out to first base. Ramon Laureano delivered a one-out, two-run single to right-center field to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.

Nestor Cortes is a filler the Padres felt they needed. In his fourth start since being acquired at the trade deadline, Cortes took a perfect game into the sixth inning and helped lift his new team back into first place alone in the National League West.
