Ryan Garcia suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Rolando “Rolly” Romero on Friday night in Times Square, losing on points in his first fight since returning from a one-year doping ban.

Although the marketing surrounding Friday night's unique boxing event in New York's Times Square has surrounded the build toward an inevitable Ryan Garcia-Devin Haney rematch, the pair of young stars must first pass dangerous tests of their own.

While Haney beat Ramírez by unanimous decision, Garcia fell to Romero, which calls into question whether a rematch is still in the cards. Per ESPN's Andreas Hale, it remains possible that Garcia vs. Haney II could happen due to reports that a contract was signed for the fight prior to Friday's results.
