The Hurricanes poached defensive backs coach Will Harris from rival Florida, filling out their defensive staff.

Under Will Harris, the team’s defensive backs totaled 11 of the team’s 14 interceptions a season after Florida managed just 3 picks, tied with Temple for the fewest in college football.

The Miami Hurricanes have made a key addition to their coaching staff, hiring Will Harris as their new secondary coach, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Harris joins Miami after spending the 2024 season with the Florida Gators,

It's been a really interesting week for the Florida Gators. They have been hot on the recruiting trail, but the news breaking on Thursday that secondary coach Will Harris was departing the Gators for Miami (FL) turned things upside down.

Although his contract wasn't set to expire, Florida was reportedly working on extending Harris prior to his departure. In early February, head coach Billy Napier explained that contract extensions were being finalized. “For the most part, yes. I mean some of those deals are not done," he said on Feb. 5. "Hopefully we’ll get everybody back.”
