Israeli airstrikes hit Yemen's capital on Sunday, days after the Houthi rebels fired a missile toward Israel that its military described as the first cluster bomb the rebels had launched at it since 2023.

Israel struck Yemen’s Houthis on Sunday after the Iran-backed rebels fired a new type of missile at Israel. The Israeli military said it struck a military site where the presidential palace is located, as well as two power plants and a fuel storage site.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking from the Air Force command centre in Tel Aviv, vowed to intensify operations against the Iran-backed Houthis, who have been launching missiles and drones toward Israel and attacking ships in the Red Sea for nearly two years.
