A storm system is set to arrive in Minnesota late Friday, likely bringing several inches of snow for the Twin Cities.

As things stand, the National Weather Service has the Twin Cities metro in the admittedly wide range of receiving 5-8 inches of snow, which is expected to start early Saturday morning and continue through mid-afternoon.

He admits that studying the state's trees and their reaction to weather fluctuation is interesting, but it also breaks his heart a bit. He pointed to some bare patches of lawn on the campus, where trees used to be.

Despite the frigid temperatures so far this winter, the amount of snowfall in Minnesota is still significantly below average.
