A Florida TV station found itself in the direct path of a tornado Monday morning, and its fearless meteorologist continued broadcasting even as the storm pummeled the studio and other staff sought cover.

The tornado, later given an EF2 rating by the National Weather Service, was believed to have peak wind gusts to 115 mph, equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane.

I’ve been in this business 25 years and I’ve never in my career had a tornado hit the studio. This is a very, very significant situation,” Garner said, catching his breath.
