According to the City of Jackson, City Council voted to sell the property to a new development company for $25,000.

In April 2022, the City Council approved the sale of the Hayes property to J. Jeffers & Co. over nearly three years, the council authorized multiple extensions of the development agreement while the Milwaukee-based developer attempted plans to start construction.
