Nussmeier, a Lake Charles native, has played at LSU all five seasons of his career. Last year, he took over the starting quarterback job for Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels and led the Tigers to nine wins, including a Texas Bowl victory over Baylor. He threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns.

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier earned the Tigers' prestigious No. 18 jersey on Sunday, Aug. 24, becoming the first QB since 2003 with the honor.
