Walmart announced Friday that longtime CEO Doug McMillon will retire at the end of January — which came as a surprise to some given the company’s success in a rapidly evolving retail landscape.
Albertsons just added a new perk to its loyalty program in an effort to maintain its customer base and boost sales. Members of Albertsons’s free for U loyalty program can now get a three-month extended free trial of Uber One. Paid FreshPass annual members, meanwhile, are eligible for six months of Uber One for free.

John Furner, 51, the head of Walmart's U.S. operations, will take over on Feb. 1, the day after McMillon's retirement becomes effective, the company said. Although McMillon is set to spend a year advising his successor, Walmart shares fell 3% immediately in premarket trading after the news of the unexpected leadership change.
