The New York Jets’ search for a new general manager early in the 2025 NFL offseason is well underway. Former general manager Joe Douglas was fired in November. The writing was on the wall for Douglas at that point.
There are several teams across the NFL that are looking to hire a new head coach, but the New York Jets also need to hire a new general manager. They fired Robert Saleh, who had been their head coach since 2021,
NFL regular season is complete and it's on to the playoffs. Yet for a large number of franchises, it's time to move into offseason mode. Realistically, some of them have already done so -- especially those who have made changes at the head coach or general manager positions.
For some of those teams, that will involve finding new head coaches and/or General Managers. Three teams fired their head coaches during the season and two more have been dispatched as of 9 a.m. ET on January 6.

But Thursday, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he had multiple exit interviews the highest levels of Jets leadership as they grappled with the disastrous season – their franchise-worst 14th straight without a playoff berth – and what comes next.
"As far as my own decision, I told them I'm going to take some time," Rodgers said. "They haven't even made a decision on the GM or a coach yet. Once that happens, then that'll take us to the next step which is a conversation, I'm assuming, with whoever that individual is."

Among the Jets’ rumored host of head coaching candidates was Mike Vrabel, who has since accepted a job with the New England Patriots. Vrabel interviewed with the Jets on Jan. 3—two days before the Patriots fired Jerod Mayo—and would ultimately reunite with his former franchise on Jan. 12.
"I think everybody understands that it's going to come down to a GM and coach and myself and whether we all want to do the dance together or if it's not in the cards," Rodgers said.
