Connor scores shootout winning goal, Vilardi scores twice in 4-3 win
Gabriel Vilardi scored twice as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the host St. Louis Blues 4-3 in a shootout Saturday night to extend their winning streak to nine games.
Late in the third period, after the Jets pulled Comrie for the extra attacker, Vilardi tipped a Kyle Connor shot from the point after Cole Perfetti collected a puck in the corner and sailed to the blue line. Connor avoided Blues forward Radek Faksa in getting the shot toward the net, allowing Vilardi to deflect it past Hofer.
Once again, Eric Comrie delivered in a shootout win over the Blues on Saturday. Given what we’ve seen from the backup goalie, there’s no reason the Jets shouldn’t be comfortable giving him more time in net.
LOUIS (AP) — Gabriel Vilardi tied it with 28 seconds left with goalie Eric Comrie off for an extra attacker ... the last Oct. 9-26 this season. Robert Thomas scored twice, Pavel Buchnevich also scored and Joel Hofer made 26 saves for St. Louis.
