Lucas Building near Iowa Capitol evacuated because of suspicious parcel
Alex Dinkla, spokesperson for the Iowa State Patrol, said in a statement Monday afternoon that the patrol had been called at approximately 11 a.m. to the Lucas Building, located at 321 E. 12th St. — east of the Iowa Capitol — for a suspicious parcel.

The Lucas Building is located at 321 E. 12th St., east of the Iowa Capitol. Ashley Hunt, spokesperson for the Iowa Secretary of State's Office — located in the Lucas Building — confirmed to the Des Moines Register that the building was evacuated after noon on Monday and as of 1 p.m. employees were still outside.
