While the estranged royal family members appear to use the HRH status privately on stationery and other notes, a Sussex source told Page Six that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not ask people to call them that. They reportedly insist on being called “Ma’am and Sir,” though sometimes others still call them HRH. The insider said:

Prince William is determined to strip the couple of the HRH titles, which stand for His and Her Royal Highness, since Meghan Markle has recently made it clear that she plans to continue using it.

Part of the buzz is that an angry Prince William could one day strip both Meghan and Prince Harry of their HRH titles, which they retained after their 2020 step back as working royals but don’t use for commercial gain.
