President Donald Trump’s Wednesday speech at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland was filled with inaccurate claims – notably including false and misleading statements about NATO and Greenland, the self-governing Danish territory he is pushing for the US to acquire.

Trump has long said he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, who recently won the prize for her fight for democracy, gave her prize medal to Trump. But the Norwegian Nobel Committee said the award can’t be revoked, shared or transferred.

When President Trump first floated the idea of buying Greenland in 2019, the international response ranged from ridicule to satire. The notion of purchasing a vast, icy landmass from Denmark seemed like another erratic outburst.

Following meetings at the World Economic Forum in Davos and talks with NATO chief Mark Rutte, according to the report, Trump announced there was a “framework” for a deal.
