Several inches of lake effect snow is likely under a 20-mile-wide lake effect snow band. This lake effect snow band may stretch from Northern Berrien County down to U.S. 30. Visibility will be under a mile to near zero under this main lake effect snow band with snowfall amounts near 1 inch per hour.

Wind chills could get as cold as -25 at times again Friday morning too but with lighter winds in the morning the wind chill will not be as brutal. There should be rapid improvement by Friday afternoon though as the south wind sends us in the double digits once again, approaching 20 in Omaha!

High temperatures on Thursday rose above 10° for the first time since Saturday. This does not mark the end of this bitterly cold stretch though. Friday morning will once again have air temperatures near -10° with a wind chill in the 20s below zero.

Any Alert Days Ahead? Today is a FAWD due to afternoon snow squalls. Aware: 31.9 inches of snow has fallen so far this year. Overall we are slightly behind the seasonal pace for snow. At this point last year we had seen 15.3 inches of snow.
