Islam Makhachev makes history at UFC 322
Digest more
Islam Makhachev became a two-division champion and utilized a dominant grappling game to take the welterweight title in the main event from Jack Della Maddalena. Wrestling was the name of the game in the co-headliner, too, as Valentina Shevchenko defended her women's flyweight title against former two-time strawweight queen Weili Zhang.
Aside from Topuria, two welterweight contenders made strong cases to be considered for a title shot in the near future. Carlos Prates scored a one-punch knockout of former champion Leon Edwards, and the undefeated Michael Morales arguably did him one better by taking out Sean Brady inside of the first round.
While many around the world glowed about Islam Makahchev's UFC 322 performance, Ilia Topuria offered a different take. Minutes after the main event ended Saturday, Topuria ripped both Makhachev and Della Maddalena, offering up different criticisms for each fighter for their performances at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Dillon Danis and Islam Makhachev's teammates spark a wild multi-man brawl at UFC 322, causing chaos and shocking MMA fans.
