I'm glad Aliexpress reels exist for ultra budget anglers and will recommend the aluminum frame reels I have experience with but there are some absolute garbage reels out there and this is one of them. I've seen that reel all over Aliexpress in the $20 range for years.

After Lew Childre was killed in a plane crash and the company was sold and I think Zebco also used the name for awhile. The Lew's were a lower profile back in the day but I don't think they were ever as popular as the Abu's.

Don't know if the PQ's are machined die cast or what, but all frames must have screw holes machined it seems that there would be a difference in the reels that are advertised die cast, die cast machined, and just machined.

Apr 20, 2023 · Penn low profile reels are Doyo. In their various forms Doyo reels are the best casting reels that are not shimano or daiwa. I believe the highest end Doyo sold in the US is the Abu Zenon. 13 fishing reels are nice too, but not super high end.

My son started with a Shimano Stratic 1000 on medium action Phenix rod out 25 years ago using 5 lb Max UG line and was still using and catching bass as a 6’3” adult because it was a well balanced finesse outfit.
