Back in the early/mid 90s people used them to watch Video CD's, just like the Philips CD-i (even the 3DO and PS1 had VCD add-ons). I personally wouldn't rush out to buy one unless you collect old VCD movies. My Victor V-Saturn came with one already installed and the Hitachi Hi-Saturn usually comes with it too.

And I'm using a GPX Superlight (I'm looking forward to the release of a Razer Viper Mini Wireless) The gliding sensation is more fluid on the Saturn Pro, I feel that on the Vaxee PA has more friction.

From what I saw, it is used to transfer saves from the ss_bup.bin file, which is a copy of the Saturn's internal memory, to the ss_mems.bin, which is the 8MB cartridge emulated by Saroo, creating a slot in the ss_save that simulates the Saturn's internal memory.

Here's my list of games that are VERY playable. They either feature English in-game, or the gameplay and menus are easy to navigate despite the language barrier.
